    Some AI-related resources to help me not repeat myself:

    1. "We have certainly been here before. Many many times in the past, companies — just like artificial intelligence (AI) companies now — have lied to us to sell us products. Not only is there no reason to assume the AI industry is different, there is in fact much to make us think they are knowingly misleading us."

      2. "I, Olivia Guest, have collected extracts of my writings on the Turing test, which Alan Turing referred to as the Imitation Game. For the reader, this page merely assumes you're interested in what I have to say on this topic. And so, below are a chronologically ordered series of extracts — in each case you may want to click through to the full paper for more context. If you find any of this work useful, please cite us using the papers below."

        3. general CAIL page

        "On this page are some resources for Critical AI Literacy (CAIL) from my perspective. Also see: the project homepage and this press release on our work.

        As we say here, CAIL is:

        an umbrella for all the prerequisite knowledge required to have an expert-level critical perspective, such as to tell apart nonsense hype from true theoretical computer scientific claims (see our project website)."

          @olivia

          I hope you spend more time on Mastodon, a lot of us left Bluesky either by choice, or because their birthdate verification feature locked us out.

              @olivia

              I'm in Canada and most of the time, even when I use a VPN, my gateway IP address is based in Canada.

              A few months ago, my Bluesky app updated with the forced age verification feature.

              I opened the app. "You must enter your birthdate.
              Fine, I was ready to enter my birthdate.

              "You cannot enter your birthdate without logging in."

              I tried logging in.

              "You cannot log in, you haven't confirmed your birthdate." 🫠🫠🫠🫠

              Thousands of people have been locked out of Bluesky that way, and Bluesky doesn't care.

              Good riddance, because:

              - They keep choosing to ban the trans person in scenarios where a transphobe harasses them for being trans.

              - They ban Palestinians for fundraising.

              - "Waffles!" 🙃

              Bluesky is the evil polite neoliberal to Twitter/"X"'s openly Nazi fascist.

              We need to get away from social media platforms that are controlled by capitalists as fascism intensifies.
