      Fuckerberg knows full well what the fuck he's doing. This is the natural evolution of his mission statement to gather up as much data on everyone as he fucking can.

        @nixCraft Of course they know.

        It's not about what's doing what is right for anyone, it's about becoming the gatekeepers — taking away other options.

          @nixCraft
          Of course they do, because age verification is really capture all the important info on every adult.

          It's not at all like ID in a shop for alcohol, smokes or knives, which isn't stored and only younger looking people are asked for.

          Meta is spending millions to push the lie of age verification to "protect children".

          In a just world they and X would be shut down and managers / owners in jail.

            Seconded, this is a valuable gold mine of who is trying to access which internet location and where they might be while doing it and what others are doing while there.

                there are lots of creeps out there who wear Meta AI glasses and record interactions with women without telling em and sometimes even 16/17 yo kids and post them on Insta or TikTok as pickup artist tips. If those women ask Meta or TikTok to remove these videos, they simply say this is recorded in public view and it doesn't break any laws. So it is working as Meta wanted. It creates buzz on their social media, it drives up views, & ad sales. they don't care if someone's life gets destroyed

                  @nixCraft I'd imagine the auto and human moderated supervision of recorded/streamed video means the images get sent to and stored in soooo many different places...

                        @nixCraft tbh hidden cameras aren't a new thing. And the law argument is true, but only of face is blurred. At least on EU. I hate meta as much as anybody, but people must take some responsibility for their actions too.

                          @nixCraft
                          There are other jurisdictions, e.g. Germany. There you have the right on pictures of yourself. They are legally bound to remove the images/videos of they are made without consent. But I guess they don't care and I am not sure if the platform needs to act or if the uploader is responsible to remove it.

                            @nixCraft anyone who hasn’t known that meta is garbage is blind. they’ve been garbage since the moment they put their algorithm into action. it feels strange bashing social media on a form of social media but this is different. facebook isn’t “social media”. it’s click-bait and marketing, a forum is “social media” people interacting about common problems or interests. this crap we’re pushed today is distraction and misdirection and im going to shut up because it starts sounding nuts

                              @nixCraft To know what one is doing has many layers. They’re doing whatever they think improves their profit margin.

                              They also know they have an unquestioned semi-monopoly on a lot or people’s social lives, and they know they can afford an army of loyers, so they think they can do whatever.

                              What’s important for ther rest of us to remember (and to remind each other off) is that, among tech giants, Meta is the easiest one to dump.

                              They are providing nothing useful to humanity.

                                  There were signs in many places, especially clinics, hospitals and places were police were active.

                                    @nixCraft Ohh it's a simple case of it applies for you but not for me, he knows very well what they are doing.

                                      the company that pretends to protect kids by lobbying for age verification at OS level very hard also introduced these Meta glasses with AI that record everything and send back to its server. Is anyone seeing irony in it? Does Meta understands what they are doing?

                                      @nixCraft They understand. They want it both ways, and both of those ways point toward a panopticon for them to use for monetization and control.

                                        @nixCraft The return of the glassholes… it was just a matter of time.

                                          @nixCraft tbh hidden cameras aren't a new thing. And the law argument is true, but only of face is blurred. At least on EU. I hate meta as much as anybody, but people must take some responsibility for their actions too.
                                          Knife maker is not responsible for knife attacks.

                                          @vonKordke @nixCraft I’d argue that if a knife maker makes a knife that looks like a combat knife, has features of a combat knife, denies it’s a combat knife even though internal documents show that they know people use it as such, including childrens, and that they are encouraged to do so, but that they ignore it because it’s how they make money, they are in part responsible.
