Augmented Reality filters are coming to the fediverse, first with Loops and soon Pixelfed!

@dansup @moralapostel @anatolegc I'm with @moralapostel here. Besides the feature being stupid, childish and tasteless we as fediverse should refrain from pyschological tricks.
@kdekooter just keep in mind, the fediverse is and will be open and diverse, there is no "we, the fediverse". Many fediverse users hate AI, but others like it and post AI content. Same with "childish" filters. Same with people telling other people how they should be and what they should or should not do. @dansup @moralapostel @anatolegc

@dansup Brilliant use of programmers' time. The really important stuff.

@dansup I'm very impressed by your resilience, that you are still building, while with every feature you ship, some "guardians of the fediverse" feel the urge to tell you what to do and what not. And I heavily assume most of them don't even use pixelfed or loops.

@moralapostel @anatolegc @kdekooter Powerful and popular features shouldn't be proprietary.
They should belong to the people.
You might not use them, does that mean nobody should too? Even if we build an ethical implementation?
@dansup agreed. It's ok to enjoy silly things. Let people have fun.

@dansup it looks fun!

@dansup WHY???
@kdekooter @dansup i have negative amounts of hype for this.
It feels like just another day where the indie stuff becomes established and enshittifies -

@dansup Can't wait! This is awesome!

@dansup i wish pixelfed focused on pictures and photography rather than filters like this. An opensource image editor is way more needed and i dont see how such feature would benefit pixelfed users in any way
