If the game is rigged.

If the game is rigged. How can you expect to win? I feel a sense of urgency for mainstream politicians and media to wake up and start the move away from only using the algorithmically manipulated billionaire socials, before the coming onslaught with large sums in support of "the resistance".
It's a well established fact in several studies, that these algorithms favour far right content and nurtures conflict, not democratic discourse.

The @EUCommission, @bundestag and @Bundesregierung have been commendable in laying the first foundations
🤩
for this shift by their active participation in the Fediverse.

But what about our leading politicians? What about various parliaments and goverments around Europe? Like my own in Sweden.

@leanderlindahl @EUCommission @bundestag @Bundesregierung I get it and, in the theoretical realm where the true posters among the politicians (not ones who leave it to their CM) aren't my people whom I know deeply and intimately, I'd agree. But I stand by what I said
. Focus on the institutions. Absurd that the lower chamber of the European Parliament doesn't have a fediverse / Mastodon account. But the core-shitposters? They're not getting off twitter unless it's nuked.

Attached: 1 image You can scream at politicians to get off twitter all you want, but it's a waste of time, imo. Focus on state institutions, not politicians. Those who are boring and use it via their CM for institutional stuff might follow. But eventually you're going to hit poster-core. True shitposters like Óscar Puente, Radek Sikorski et al will download Medvedev's VPN into their veins if twitter's ever banned in 🇪🇺 because they're all about THIS vibe: #WestSssideTilIDIEmfer #TotalCaliforniaCulturalVictory

Social media or all corporations?
It's when a company goes public and no one is responsible for its behavior aside from making more money that drives social media and other corporations to the dark side in search of more profit.
Fiduciary duty to investors=I will do anything for profit.
Google isn't social media, but it's not terribly different from Meta.

@leanderlindahl @EUCommission I saw that the political party Volt recently set up an account on Mastodon: https://mastodon.social/@VoltEuropa@mstdn.social . I also one of their local chapters active on Loops: https://loops.video/@Volt_Berlin . So there has been some progress, and it needs to be celebrated.

However high-level national and EU political representatives still seem stick to US big tech platforms, possibly under the assumption that: “it is where people are”, or due to reluctance to embrace something new. It is also a bit disappointing to see high-level EU politicians active on BlueSky, yet shun away from Mastodon. 2/3 -

I can understand that marketing people want their fix from algo media. But let's use the RAG principles and post first on open democratic media. Then after, in commercial, manipulated, profit hungry media.
Its possible to do both. Both libraries and amusement parks. Health food and McDonalds.
Protect the democratic space by having public actors conduct the conversation away from foreign socials optimised for conflict and profit. That'll allow journalists to move too.
