"Douthat: It’s worth noting that your company is named for seeing stones used to view things at a very long distance in J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Lord of the Rings.” And the Palantíri, these seeing stones, were used by the noble kingdoms of the West in that story.

It’s also worth noting that in the course of the Tolkien story, they fall into the wrong hands and are used for evil as well.

Sankar: The naming choice was intentional. It’s a built-in warning and reminder to us."

Certainly a national security risk to the UK government.

"Karp, who himself holds humanities degrees from the elite liberal arts institutions of Haverford College and Stanford Law, will presumably be alright. With a net worth of $15.5 billion — well within the top 0.1 percent of global wealth owners — the Palantir CEO has enough money and power to live like a feudal lord (and that’s before AI even takes over.)"

He's not wrong that what's better than humanities degrees from elite schools, is to have Peter Thiel as a best bud. 🤡

                    Can't argue with the billions.
