    @atpfm It's very strange to hear the comments about Daikin.

    They are the worlds largest AC company by sales and are considered a premium brand, with great longevity and performance. I think half the houses on my street have a ducted Daikin system installed.

    @sjtrny @atpfm yup seemed like @marcoarment was saying Daikin was some cheap brand, I was astonished because in Australia it's the top performer, both in efficiency and reliability.

      @marcoshuerta If you're referring to the part where I asked @caseyliss to consider how much "replacing the battery" would cost on a Taycan, I meant the (tiny) 12V battery, not the car's giant battery pack.

      @siracusa @marcoshuerta @caseyliss The issues most folks had were around early software issues that drained it prematurely. I have a trickle charger I bought off Amazon just in case, but I don't typically let me car sit for weeks without it being turned or at least plugged in. After 5.5 years, mine shows 13.5-13.7V in regular use. Ironically, our IONIQ 5 had the same software drain issue…hence, the trickle charger.

        @atpfm @caseyliss I’m still in love with my 2018 BMW. Yes, I’ve poured money into it, but the newer cars don’t provide the same locked-in driving experience.

          @atpfm i4 is a nice car, although it does suffer from being, essentially, an ICE car. It even has a tunnel!

            @siracusa @caseyliss @marcoshuerta having replaced a 12v battery in a Macan Turbo I know I saved > $500 off dealer cost by borrowing a programmer from a friend to register the new self installed battery.

            @trentstevens
            Yeah unfortunately it seems like battery registration really does make a difference in longevity.
            Our model 3’s 12v is lead acid so it was $89 at the service center (cheaper than Autozone!). It would have been just $125 to have mobile service come out and replace it!
            But all our other cars have AGMs and 2 of them require registration. Thankfully I’ve never had to replace one.

              @caseyliss @siracusa @marcoshuerta If you replace the main one, I'd expect them to throw in a change of the smaller one too. $$$

                      @atpfm oh boy ... Porsche, that is a whole rabbit hole to dig in ... but one thing for the two gears in the Taycan. The shifting is happening around 60mph and it is not because of higher torque at launch control or so. It is to reach better efficiency on high speed. So the 2 gear transmission has a total different meaning vs combustion engines ... an torque is not a problem for a e-motor.

                        @atpfm and to understand the Taycan issue better (especially regarding the pre Facelift) I recommend to watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sohjnE-8Vug ... one could think: Wow thats a good deal for me ... you get them cheap ... but some caveats. The whole Porsche electrification is also a huge topic in Germany btw.

                          @atpfm The issue with Porsche Buyers is that they expected to have an „investment“ in to a vehicle long term ... back then there was a saying here „Only for the first Porsche you really pay“. That is definitely not the case with the Taycan ... because of that „investment“ chain of thought Porsche owners happily pay the insane maintenance costs also btw ... good concept of Porsche ...

                            @atpfm one more video (in orignal German language only, but google translates I believe): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYIu15OAODg ... there are thousands of comments below ... there are quality issues with the old Taycan ... maybe it is a smaller percentage ... I don’t know, but Onboard Charger and heaters are named here prominently ... as sexy as the vehicle is ... I would reconsider it ...

                                  @sommer It’s been in the internal notes document since the story broke, but a) other things have taken priority, and b) I’d like to see more corroboration from entities other than a place shorting the stock. Got additional sources?

                                    @siracusa I thought so. ATP would have an interesting take considering BMW Panoramic iDrive and ‘OS X’ leans into a more software-defined experience (with fully touch screen HVAC controls and bonus flush door handles). But even assuming the new design is desirable, 2027 US release may not work for Casey’s ‘itch.’

                                        @MikePfeifer ah yes!

                                        Basically, my only question is, am I signing myself up for N55 levels of pain if I get one of these? 🥴

                                          @caseyliss I mean, as you know, there are no guarantees in life. That said, the i4 has been pretty solid for the most part. We sell a lot of them here in the Tampa area, and we are a fairly busy dealer. By far the most we see them for is tires and any recalls (usually software). We do get some “my car doesn’t charge” type complaints but that seems to be almost always the charging equipment and not the car. Some people have trouble with the phone connection, which is usually not the cars fault.
