There is so much need now that I have to triage. It's like you wake up every day to someone asking you that unconscionable question "If all your children were drowning, but you could only save one, which one would it be?" Well, what I want is a way for all of us to never have to ask that question again.

You know who doesn't have to triage, hardly at all, ever? Billionaires, especially in this second gilded age. Run the numbers and see what we could do if billionaires paid even a small fraction of their fair share. It's staggering. It's obscene. And it is fucking unacceptable.

@codinghorror I was on a walk just now and was pondering what we could get if we spent ICE's budget on teaching and education.

@codinghorror my advice for kids: work only for rich people. charge them as much as you can get away with. iterate until you do. they're rich.

@synlogic4242 from what I know of other rich people and how they pay others, that is not likely to be a viable strategy. But you know what is? It's described in all the history, right here, if we're paying attention.. https://rgmii.org/history-of-gmi

@codinghorror ha. yeah perhaps. well I do like GMI and glad you're trying to make things better -- respect! I'm personally a bigger fan of UBI as an ideal *but* a 100% universal GMI alone would be a big advance to the social safety net over what we have today in the US.

I also advocate for extreme tax simplification and automation but realize lots of vested interests against it haha
