    @Nonilex

    Who knew that a single software vendor not named Elon Musk could "decide the fate of our Country." Trump's Pentagon should work on multiple sourcing for all key products.

    Btw, pretty sure there isn't a "Radical Left" vendor of any products for the Pentagon.

      The #Pentagon & Anthropic are at odds over restrictions the company places on the use of #Claude, the first #AI system to be used in the #military #classified network.

      @Nonilex That's what these LLMs are for though, I don't understand the conflict unless it's just "we should own all the stolen data, not the government".

        @Nonilex strange how quickly one can become "radical left, woke" these days. In one day; out the next. It's almost as if the term means nothing but "fascists don't like this."

        @d_a_n_a @Nonilex precisely the lesson of "first they came for..." there's no safety in merely not *yet* being in a target group.

          @Nonilex I guess #Grok will be the next #AI choice - and that is a very scary prospect!

          @alex_p_roe that's definitely the trouble. Just because this AI company won't do it, we know that others will.

            Just like all #rapists, #Trump really doesn’t like being told no.

            Trump says he is directing federal agencies to cease use of #Anthropic #technology in a petty whiny social media post.

              #Anthropic had sought guarantees that its #AI would not be used for fully #AutonomousWeapons or for mass #domestic #surveillance - applications in which the #Pentagon claimed it had no interest [wink wink nudge nudge].

                                      …Many researchers & engineers working on #AI have long harbored concerns about their #technology being used to power #weapons or #surveillance. The battle between #Anthropic & the #Pentagon has reawakened those concerns across the industry.

                                      By Friday afternoon, >550 employees at #Google & #ChatGPT maker #OpenAI signed an open letter in support of Anthropic’s position & calling on their bosses to stand up to the Pentagon.

                                      Earlier in the week, Jeff Dean, #Google’s chief #AI scientist, said he was opposed to the #technology being used for #surveillance & repeated his long-standing opposition to #AutonomousWeapons.

                                      #SamAltman, #OpenAI’s chief executive, said Friday that it was important for AI companies to find ways to work with the #Pentagon but that he had concerns similar to those of his rival #Amodei.

                                          I wonder how fast they will fold. The other thing I fully expect to read in a few days is how much they are already doing the things they said they aren’t doing..

                                          This isn’t the same way we ring said that they discontinued their agreement with flock surveillance, only to find out through reporting that they were already selling data to quite a few different surveillance companies
