For the record, this is what crossed my mind when I looked at the photo. I’ve seen a lot of these “Bathtub Madonnas” around the Midwest. I usually call them “Virgin on a Half Shell.”
My old bathtub (somewhat discolored as you can see) is the type of free-standing tub used for the shrines. My tub was made in 1905 and was originally installed in a house in Des Moines.
