The world is now so full of ridiculous things that at least I struggle to deal with it all. But this is not an 'us' problem. The (political) world really is idiotic. I needed to vent a bit, so I made a list of things that are impossible to believe, yet are very much what is happening. Perhaps seeing it in writing will help you deal better with the situation. https://berthub.eu/articles/posts/the-impossible-things-we-have-to-believe/

@bert_hubert Thanks a lot for writing that. It helps. I have mostly additional questions, sorry:
    - A lot of problems are related to "Big sth". Can we make/keep power small?
    - Politicians/bosses that act completely different than promised, without mentioning new circumstances and insights. Can we make that more difficult?
    - Next to self-censorship there's also self-bribery
    - What might seem like an innocent little preference, can result in systemic problems: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parable_of_the_Polygons

@bert_hubert well, if Jan Rotmans is right, we are living through a transition period. At the same time we have a failing educational system with increasingly stupid people at graduation time. So, basically, we're doomed. If I was any younger I think I would be on the barricades.

@bert_hubert Isn't the "answer" to your open question just Ostrogorski's paradox? In the end it's all about priorities, making one topic politically (electorally) important leads to other topics getting solutions no one wants.

Adding the seventh incredibile thing, the larger repository of open source/ free software is owned by the most closed source, monopolist, AI addicted company, that freely can dig in the repository for their own interests. And it's icon is at the bottom of your blog page.

@bert_hubert Thanks for ending with the Restaurant at the End of the Universe. As long as there is also still brilliant stuff like the Hitchhiker’s Guide, we’ll be okay. And so will you! You’re doing a lot of good.

Your story reads like on the beach by nevil shute. The novel that since long stands in the shadow of 1984, but is not less important.

@bert_hubert The word 'simulacrum' is popular of late.

The word indicates a false reality to cover for the fact that behind it there is no reality.

Take the manosphere: it is not about being a man and somehow manliness is espoused continously. Take government IT: the paper reality looks great.
