                        That's insightful of you to note. These are just a sorta-Chinese-ification by me, thinking out thousands of years, not using any kana, but yeah in Japan by all means.

                          @mcc @futurebird

                          I think this would run into the problem with some of the cartoon nuclear waste warning messages:

                          What happens if someone reads the emoji backwards?

                          Since there is not necessarily an obvious direction - although maybe the arrow emoji would break the ambiguity.

                              @mcc Are you asking because it's the only way to accurately communicate with the kind of people who will visit the usurper's presidential museum?

                                  @bob @mcc thats really smart. danger is easy to communicate

                                  but the point of “this is not a place of honor” is that it doesnt just communicate danger, but it also dismisses the notion that the danger is ‘cool’

                                    What better way to keep people away than elicit disgust? Evoking imagery of fecal waste, harbingers of disease and rot, skeletons, and all things nasty might make for a compelling argument to stay away.

                                    Of course, that is if you're not a follower of Nurgle.

                                      People don't even agree on the meaning of emoji now.

                                      Classic example, the happy chocolate ice cream emoji.

                                        @mcc Emoji read by which OS/browser/platform/etc? We don’t have standardized emoji, so we can’t even reliably communicate the danger now, let alone long term.
