Fedibook groups just got a major rewrite.

Groups now work as a ActivityPub group actors — meaning members from Mastodon, Pixelfed, and other Fediverse platforms can join and participate, not just Fedibook users.

Invite a @mastodon.social friend to your group, they accept the follow request, and group posts start appearing in their home timeline. They can post back via DM. It just works.

On Fedibook, groups looks just like that face-thing.

              That's a big 404 on the blog. 😕

I have zero experience of that f*book thing, so I'll just have to learn. If there is a group for newbie intros, then please send me an invite!

@sindum@mstdn.dk fedibook groups don't seem to be federating content to the fediverse correctly.

I'm seeing posts that are attributed to no user. It may be an issue with how the activity is federated.

The group actor should be announcing a regular object from another user, according to 1b12.

@sindum@mstdn.dk I think so. The group is merely announcing the creation of the post, the post's attributedTo should still point to the actual author.

                        Thanks for looking into it!

hi @sindum@mstdn.dk! Sorry, I didn't see this message due to a regression on activitypub.space. I can't join that group, I don't think webfinger resolves...

Hi @julian thank for reaching out and good to see you in the meeting just now. I'm very new to this world so trying to understand all the concepts. I don't know if I solved it yet. At least I'm now able to include the author in the group message when seen on mastodon. I will post an update in the weekend with the status for this week.
