One question I’ve been getting lately is about what the characters in Beneath Still Stars actually look like.
It’s an interesting question, because the answer is a bit intentional. I’ve chosen not to describe most of the characters in too much physical detail.
I’ve always liked the idea that readers can build their own version of a character in their imagination. The way someone looks in your mind can make the story feel more personal, more connected to you.
That said, there are a few small details. Marcus, was born and raised in England. Holland has a mixed Canadian, and First Nations background, which carries through slightly to Tessa. Serenai is described as slim with purple eyes, something common among the Orani.
For me, the most important part of a character isn’t what they look like—it’s how they think, how they act, and how they respond when things go wrong.
I’m curious—when you read a book, do you prefer detailed descriptions, or do you like to imagine characters in your own way?
