I see enough pushback to his actions that truly challenge our democratic system that I actually fear the economic chaos coming from the rise of AI much more. But both really suck and I can't understand how we let it happen. That enough Americans didn't reflexively oppose both reinforce my fear of how our information ecosystem is broken.

@ben I didn’t answer this poll because I feel we’re at a (or a bit down the fascist side) fork in the road. It’s not too late for the US to turn things around, but it really depends on if the Dems go “we survived that! Back to the status quo!” Or if meaningful change that will prevent this from happening again occurs

To be honest, I don't have the space to think where the US will be in 5 years. I've been in a constant state of emergency for a year.I'm at

@ben As others have said, we're at a decision point. I don't know whether the USA will be more or less democratic in 5 years, but I am confident that it cannot remain the same. The status quo is unstable.
Perhaps every last bit of internal resistance will be crushed and the fascist USA will increase its threats towards the rest of the world. Perhaps the system will collapse into chaos and the USA will be a failed state. Perhaps we will pull together and remake the USA into something better.

And to be honest, my hopes & fears are legion.I hope that we've held ourselves accountable for this lawlessness and immorality. That those named as abusers & predators in the Epstein Files have been, at minimum, put in prison. That those who corrupt our democratic institutions have been stripped of their corrupt gains. Personally, I feel that exploitative crimes against children deserve a more permanent form of justice.
I fear that we will have walked away, congratulating ourselves on another electoral victory, failing in accountability. Planting the seeds again for a future rebirth of this hideous ideology. Using plurality to hide our shame instead of using it to guide our growth.
