    @Edent I have the same board, and I started seeing other nodes when I bought a uFL to SMA pigtail and used a much bigger antenna than the one provided with it

      If you have strong opinions about #Mesh networking, please let me know.

      I keep seeing things about #MeshCore and #Meshtastic and I am now thoroughly confused.

      If I want to set up #LoRa messagingfor emergency / fun usage, which should I be looking at?

      (Looking for people who use them - not just googled speculation, thanks!)

      @Edent I've been exploring LoRa as well. Here's my writeup about experimenting with MeshCore for a few weeks: https://mtlynch.io/first-impressions-of-meshcore/

        @zipkid @Edent
        I thought we'd reached a truce, and agreed not to randomly disparage other projects. What are the "issues" that Meshtastic has?
        Meshtastic is uniquely suited to events, even assuming no-one has coordinated an event-specific firmware.
        And, as a wise man once said "nonsense, they're both better".

        @Nomdetom

        I have no knowledge of any truce or war. I also used quotes to make clear it is hearsay that guided my decision. My apologies if offence was given.

            @Edent I'm glad the box wasn't summarily destroyed in transit for being too suspicious, and I hope you enjoy playing with it as much as we enjoyed making it.
            The Femtofox team was strongly influenced by the loss of mobile phone towers in the Northern California wildfires. I still have a dream of solar powered linux nodes as part of a healthy mesh.
            The reality is that it's just really really cool to play with.

                @Pol

                The bigger one is one of my Femtofoxen (https://github.com/femtofox/femtofox) and the other is a fun prototyping board for using All The Radios.

                      Well, thanks to WebUSB I was able to flash this tiny board with MeshCore. It connects fine to my phone, but I can't see any other nodes.
                      The hunt continues!

                      Board is on the 3rd floor (over 6m above ground height.
                      Powered on, connected via Bluetooth, by a window.
                      Set to UK long range.
                      Been up for about 30 minutes and hasn't discovered any neighbours.
                      I know there are a couple of repeaters near-ish.
                      Just a case of wait and hope? Stick it in the loft? Increase power?

                                    I know there are a couple of repeaters near-ish.
                                    Just a case of wait and hope? Stick it in the loft? Increase power?

                                      @Edent @psfshr Traffic on the Public channel can be sporadic. Last message was at 15.51 for me.

                                      In the app click the vertial ... menu then tools then Discover Nearby Nodes then Discover Repeaters. This should find any local repeaters that can hear you (and then you hear them).

                                          @dan @Edent what’s the thing you have to do to stop it from getting contacts in the contacts list, I keep forgetting, as it defaults to the opposite way everybody says to do it.
