Well, I think there's only one solution folks. adding a notBeforeFlags condition to the allophone rule engine. This would let word-final aspirated stop rules say "only fire when the next phoneme ISN'T a vowel" - so "blank" gets breathiness but "back up" keeps its full aspiration. Useful for other languages too anyway, maybe.
