@EdwinG afaik most other countries require this? I'm a tri-national and when travelling to the country issuing the passport I always use my passport for that country. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/visit-canada/dual-canadian-citizens-visit-canada.html Canada requires you to have your passport or some documentation that proves citizenship (like a birth certificate). https://usacs-info.com/en-ca/topics/dual-citizenship/ US requires US passport for citizens, https://travel-europe.europa.eu/etias/ltr/about-etias/news-corner/Dual-citizenship-and-ETIAS.html EU requires you travel on EU country passport.

@hazematman @EdwinG Brazilian-Canadian here and yep. You can clearly see where Americans got their exceptionalism from.

@EdwinG if you enter UK with Canadian Passport, how does UK border know you are also a British citizen? Match name +birthdate? Elsewhere, I had read you should use sane passport to get in and out and if you enter with foreign passport, your max stay is of that passport and if you wish to use you original citizenship to extend stay, you must exit country and re-enter with original passport. Not sure why UK would prevent a UK born Canadian from entering UK with .ca Passport

@hazematman I’m not sure about most, but definitely many.
The biggest issue here is the poor communication (not that it affects me at all).

@jfmezei The passport carries your country of birth… not that the information gives any information on citizenship. I actually don’t know how they would assess that.
And it is true that you must exit the country with the same passport you entered it, if it’s a temporary stay. That’s how they track that you exited the country on time.
