@_thegeoff Brits should be better informed about our barbaric empire before declaring any positivity about British culture.
ey, hang on. You're Brits, actually the only actual Brits speaking British.
Now the English...

Dunno. Sounds pretty British to me."

@_thegeoff Keep the animals at the zoo.

@dianea Why are there pyramids in Egypt?
Too big to move to London.

Funny because it's too true. -

@_thegeoff Even in the UK. The British tried to destroy the languages in Wales, Scotland, and Ireland.

@doctormo @NicelyManifest @_thegeoff That would be the Welsh and Breton (in Brittany). And Cornish if you include revived languages.

Is the writer referring to the Costa Brava or the Dordogne?

@minentromaxinfo @_thegeoff I bet quite a lot of Native Americans would agree.
The amazing thing is, they treat Native Americans (who were here first!) the same way they treat immigrants. Or worse...
@nazokiyoubinbou @minentromaxinfo @_thegeoff because it's not (just) xenophobia, it's racism and colonialism. Indigenous people are the intended targets of this genocide, not accidentally caught up in it by being mistaken for someone else. The descendants of the original colonizers/genocidaires are trying to finish the job, using alleged immigration to defend their actions. Immigrants are more likely to be taken if they're visibly Indigenous than if they're white.

As an English person, I'm not trying to be 'British' either. I don't believe in it, or any other relics from when we were colonisers. If we want close ties with our neighbours, those relationships should be based on mutual respect, as equals.
And BTW let's not forget that the English are absolutely capable of shitting on their own native languages too (the ones without army and navy - yep, the dialects).

@_thegeoff ok maybe that behavior is pretty British. But when they do it IT'S CULTURAL APPROPRIATION!!! (sarcasm)

@_thegeoff I do like Trevor Noah, very sharp and funny with it.

@minentromaxinfo @_thegeoff The irony on that one is so thick you'll need a steak knife to cut through it and even then it's going to dull the blade before you're through.
I mean it was always a complete crock of it of course, but people were falling for that whole claim that they needed guns supposedly to fight off tyranny. And then here tyranny is and they want to fight *FOR* it instead.
My neighbors are among them. I hear them practicing, knowing they want to shoot people like me...
@nazokiyoubinbou @_thegeoff I'm sorry you have to deal with that. I can't imagine how stressful that is. I'm lucky I'm in a quiet part of Canada, handgun/assault rifle ownership is low, and in general we don't have the inter-tribe hatred - all that said I've considered owning firearms for my safety in the coming years being radical leftist - and the white supremacist movement is getting bigger by the day. Programmed through the same nonsense information that's ruined the States.
