    @krans Well yes ... sometimes with free software you get what you pay for.

      @libreoffice Pity about the latest update not working. Looks like I'll be reverting to MS Office.

      @TimWardCam @libreoffice What exactly is the issue with the latest update? Which version and OS? Do you know of a bug report that describes the problem, or have you reported one?

        @stragu @libreoffice The latest version from the LibreOffice web site. The installer is LibreOffice_26.2.2_Win_x86-64.msi.

        Windows 11 Pro 26200.8246.

        The problem is that the application doesn't start, either from its own shortcut or from a file association shortcut. Or, sometimes, it doesn't immediately appear to start but some minutes later a non-responsive window appears.

        I haven't created a new bug report because a web search shows numerous people reporting (apparently) the same thing, across multiple web sites, back to (at least) February.

          @TimWardCam
          I would suggest to install the stable version 25.8.6
          This might help

                @feliwilcke @stragu @libreoffice But if 26.x doesn't work, why did it prompt me to update without any warnings about instability?

                  @feliwilcke @stragu @libreoffice Yes. Next time it prompts me to "up"grade I may be disinclined to follow its advice.

                    Because normally the update progress is flawless. I'm working with 26.2.2 for months without problems. There are a lot of possible reasons for your problem. Perhaps the nice people in the user list can help.

                      @feliwilcke @stragu @libreoffice And 25.8 has now stopped working in apparently the same way.

                      And I've got some letters I legally have to write.

                      So it's back to MS Word.
