@EdwinG as someone without a car, these bi-annual events were very useful to me because I could bring lead acid batteries etc to the nearby town hall by bike for disposal. (batteries form UPS).
Yes, the republik of Montréal organized those events outside its territory.

@jfmezei I thought the cities organized it (e.g.: Beaconsfield)

@EdwinG Last time I went, I was surprised to learn that it was the Republik of Montréal who had contracted with a company to run the hazardous rubbish pickup events. O had also though it was done by local cities especiually as the notice of events was posted on the local city,s web site.

@jfmezei Maybe it’s time for Metro Montréal to be dismantled and its effective services to be absorbed by the constituent cities.

@EdwinG When a referendum was held to undo the undemocratic mergers imposed on the people, thsoe cities that has sufficient turnout got theri "independence" except the government did not restore powers to what they were before the forced mergers. For long while, the Republik still control our major streets. Still controls our water. And we have no vote on STM council (only one suburb does).

@jfmezei My point stands… it might be time to dismantle it (in 2026)
