I use LineageOS 23.02 (Android 16), on an old Pixel 4a. The upgrade from 15 to 16 was relatively recent. One thing that drives me bonkers is how simply tapping an app window may close it. Previously I had to drag it up and throw it away if I wished to close it.

So, say I'm typing something in an app. And then I wish to fact check something in a browser. So I switch from the app to the browser, and then try to switch back. But, upon tapping the app window, the app will fly up and all the work I had been doing is lost.

Is there a way to change this behaviour?

Note: it doesn't happen all the time. If I carefully tap in the centre of the app, then it will rightfully interpret this as "select app" rather than "toss app". But, I'd like to see any tap be interpreted as "select app" and never "toss app" (aka "close app").
