    Cis people reading this, if you intend to watch the new HP series when it comes out, here’s two pieces of advice that you're not allowed to ignore:

    • Have the decency to keep it and your reactions to yourself. This trans people-killing piece of media doesn't need any of your free publicity.

    • Pirate the shit out of it.

      @nileane you missed point three:
      • The rest of us can and will judge you for it, and I for one fully reserve the right to assume you are a danger until proven otherwise.

      @zbrown @nileane Exactly, even if you pirate the tv series, you still give time to a deeply problemactic content. The all have better things to do.

        @Ember @nileane

        The idea of seeding it, was to help sabotage the profits by keeping it available for longer (not that I think my protest matters that much anyway, considering how popular HP already is).

        If more people are pirating it, then less people are paying for it.

        I don't even plan to view the stuff...

          @Ember @nileane

          Technically, more people will not be tempted to pirate/view it based on my action. That's not how this works.

          But those who already wish to pirate it, have a better chance of succeeding.

          If they succeed, they won't have to pay a subscription to view it.

            @nileane or… don’t. There’s so much more stuff you could watch that isn’t this problematic. I’m usually not the kind of person who berates people for enjoying art made by bad people (any more), but in this case i have zero patience. I get it, i also read those books as a kid and really liked them, but that was when i didn’t have the knowledge, critical thinking and english skills necessary to notice all the problematic shit, all the racism in the books themselves. And as a trans person, it hurts to see cis people still excitedly talking about this franchise as if nothing happened, after such a long time of her hate campaign which has a direct impact on me and people like me.

              I've been critical of the way the @verge has been covering the development of HBO's upcoming Harry Potter reboot. But it looks like it wasn't in vain.

              If you're going to cover it, *this* is how the series should be described every time it's mentioned.

              HBO’s Harry Potter series premieres this Christmas.

              HBO has released the first trailer for its upcoming Harry Potter series, which will help fund executive producer J.K. Rowling’s ongoing crusade against transgender people. In addition to dropping the trailer, HBO has also bumped the series’ premiere date up to December 25th 2026. [Media: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIu4sFKGi6E]

                @nileane @verge So an openly fascist author is using the profits from their 3 decade old anti-fascist book series to fund more fascism in the real world? Wow. She probably should have used her money on a good therapist instead.

                Also... I probably would not bother pirating this. The original "Philosopher's Stone" movie was only good because Chris Columbus and the cast made it work. Joanne's recent works are rather shitty and only seem to get worse (see: Metacritic reviews of the "Fantastic Beasts" franchise). She's probably rebooting Harry Potter since all of her recent writing projects have been shit. In short, I don't need to ruin my good experiences with the original "Philosopher's Stone" with this shitty remake. I already feel terrible about the original "Philosopher's Stone" because it is a great adventure movie that got ruined several decades later by an increasingly erratic, unstable, and dangerous author. 😬

                  @nileane@nileane.fr i was so confused, i thought you meant High Potential which i was meaning to watch! (https://deadline.com/2024/11/high-potential-ratings-delayed-abc-most-watched-new-series-1236164654/) -- the other HP is dead to me.
