Israel issued an order to seize about 2,000 dunams of land in Sebastia and Burqa, northwest of Nablus, focusing on the area’s archaeological site.
Muwaffaq Shaban, head of the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, said the move follows a prior confiscation plan under Order No. (2/25) from January 18, 2025, and that the new order reveals the full scope of the targeted land.
He added that Israel is using archaeology as a legal pretext to tighten control and expand settlements at the expense of Palestinian landowners’ rights.
