Ine no Funaya is a small fishing village located in the northern part of the #Kyoto prefecture.
In Ine evertything moves slowly, with shops closing at 5PM and no-one around after dinner.
If you happen to be in the area, you should visit it, but please remember: Ine is a village where people live and work. Be respectful of its history and let it fill your heart with wonder.

@ikiya Do the boat garages (funaya) still serve as working fishing sheds, or have they mostly been converted into tourist spaces?

@hannaB Ine is still a fishing village, so the houses that have been converted are a small amount, compared to the ones where people still live in. You can read more on https://www.ine-kankou.jp/en/first if you want 🙂

@ikiya That's good to hear-glad the balance still tips toward the working village rather than just the tourist postcard. Thanks for the link.

@hannaB I agree. I do hope that they keep it like this, although we all know how tourism works. At least the village is so small it will be difficult to change it 🤞
