I find myself increasingly in favour of a Federation of Nations, styled loosely after the Federation of Planets of Star Trek: every country that meets our basic value system in human rights, democracy, anticorruption etc. can join, keeps control over domestic politics, but the Federation handles mutual defense and trade, and a supreme court for all those basic values.
