Day one with the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

@fireborn @TheQuinbox this reminds me of the time I had to explain to Haily how a serial port worked and how no, that RJ-45 on your cisco switch is not, in fact, ethernet
@freya @TheQuinbox That's a slightly more understandable mistake than "what is a folder and why would I want that?

@fireborn @TheQuinbox I mean yes it is, but I feel like they both fall under the category of holy shit, that's basic

Day one with the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Setup was a disaster. Smart Switch didn't. TalkBack went silent. Samsung installed everything I told it not to.
This is why nobody upgrades their Android phone.

@fireborn Ugh. This is sadly not an edge case. I was helping a student set up a galaxy s26 or whatever they call their regular slab phone, and we had a very similar experience. Including the loss of TTS. I thought, ok, I'll just connect a braille display using a cable... That was laughably stupid. It just crashed talk back. finally, we ended up having to use some sighted help to get everything working.

@ysotomayor that's a real shame. I had just hoped that what I hit was an edge case, and that nobody else would have this problem.

@fireborn Nope. Pixel has so far been the easiest to set up. Everything just worked. But then there are other problems. Sigh... Everything is so broken.

@FreakyFwoof Thankfully after deleting and adding my prints again, that particular issue is resolved.

@fireborn @FreakyFwoof At this point I'm like fuck using Android as a primary device, when I upgrade to a new phone its gonna be the iPhone 17 Pro, fuck switching to Android, don't need the headaches and other shit, and lets say if I really had to because of financial reasons, it certainly won't be a stupid Samsung, more like a Pixel.

@alexchapman @FreakyFwoof I suppose that's a fair take, Though I'd say as someone that uses Android primarily, it's not always this bad.

@fireborn @FreakyFwoof Well that's a consolation at least.

@fireborn BTW, absolute home run on The Death of The Power User piece. I have some small disagreements with it, but man. So good. I shared it with the tech team at my office, and would not be surprised if they frame it.

@fireborn I do. I hope it's gotten better with your fold.
