    Hi everyone! I’m John, a GenX physicist who invented laser technologies to detect diseases using exhaled breath, as well as some holographic technologies for augmented reality. But the best part of my work has been mentoring young scientists, engineers, and founders. Nowadays I live near some of the best beaches in Atlantic Canada. Interested in science, health, music, art, photography, books, biking, and D&D. On Mastodon since 2022. #introduction #physics #science #Canada #founder #books #DnD

        @johncormier

        Welcome. I used to know a nuclear physicist (Boomerish) named Tom Cormier who was at Texas A&M & then Wayne State in Detroit.

              @johncormier You mention mentoring young scientists as the best part of your work, which seems to imply formal mentorship is the primary path for guiding the next generation. Could informal collaboration and peer-to-peer learning be equally valuable?

                @newsgroup I meant that mentoring has been the most rewarding part of my work.

                  @johncormier That makes sense-the personal reward is what matters. I've found those unplanned, collaborative moments can be just as meaningful.

                    @johncormier Given the complexity of detecting specific diseases, which particular disease or biomarker was the primary target of your laser-based breath analysis technology?
