so, after talking to some friends i realized that i grew up with anime being way more mainstream than my peers here in the US.

so, after talking to some friends i realized that i grew up with anime being way more mainstream than my peers here in the US. even stuff that would really not be considered pg13, like fist of the north star, which was my all time favorite, followed by saint seya, pollon, dragon ball, attacker you, and many others.
now that i think about it, i’m not even sure if there is any animated series that’s part of collective memories of my generation and that i watched as a kid that isn’t anime. maybe just some of the disney stuff, but it was more rare. anime was what you’d watch on tv when you got back from school—pretty much all that was available on public tv. dubbing has always been massively popular in italy, so public tv channels would buy even old anime series and we’d get everything in italian, which made it much easier.

@cyb3rkitties very similar in France, similar lineup of animes too. Maybe add "Ranma", "City Hunter" and "Cats Eyes" over here
