3d model sites have all kinds of organizers, but they seldom match what you need. I did a test print of a promising model, but it didn't fit most of my tools. I liked their approach and modeled a custom version in fusion. Construction outlines of the handles used for spacing where needed, with the tool hole in the middle. Putting a fillet on rectangle corners fit tools better than using the Slot shape.

So now that the right side of my desk is clean and orderly I'm not sure what to do with the left side. It's like chunky sediment layers of project bits and random things I've found or disassembled. Maybe it should be like a dice tower, stuff gets tossed in the top and whatever comes out the bottom next you deal with or toss back in the top.

        Sentimental sediment.

@jaypeach53 Sadly this is my computer desk, which gravitates to being the do everything desk because of the state of the electronics desk. ':^)

@jerzone@techhub.social I’ve got a wooden tool chest that I got from Harbor Freight that’s on a workbench across the room from my electronics desk. Keeps the disaster at bay.

Update: I started with easy stuff and gradually worked towards a clean left side now.
Related, desk in other room is now slightly messier. If you move stuff around enough it should just wear out and disappear.

@jerzone @jaypeach53 I have a couple of those folding/clamping work tables. I just set one up near the cluttered work bench for the "new" project. Then all the tools and crap on the work bench is handy at hand for the new project nearby on a clean table😼
