For anyone who might be curious, Vivlio is the French brand name for the Pocketbook (a Swiss company I think) range of ereaders. These aren't as well known as Kindle or Kobo, but they have some interesting features that I'm curious to play with.

@sheepnik Vivlio are new to me, so I went to their website to see what they've got.

Big fan of this review, translated from French:

    ----

I found the pleasure of reading

    Hello,
While browsing the various sites related to the evil clairvoyance, I found the solution that allows me to read the time I want without migraine or discomfort and that will be able if necessary to switch to audio mode to do the playback when my view has deteriorated further. I am very satisfied with my purchase.

I've already managed to open a book from my local library's ebook system on it, without having to hook it up to my laptop, which might be useful when travelling (though it does involve using my phone, and isn't a simple one step process.)

I really must go to bed, but not before I share the best thing I have done so far to my new ereader.

And now I'm installing the Pocketbook software onto the device, because I think it might have more features than the Vivlio software. I also have no idea how I got a library book to open on it yesterday, as it doesn't appear to work today.

It worked! Actually, it worked yesterday, but I never got round to posting about it. The Pocketbook software does have more features, though weirdly on this model it doesn't have as much as the app I have on my phone. Anyway, now I can sync things with my phone, or use Dropbox to transfer stuff, including library books. I've also installed Koreader, and I've set up the progress sync feature so in theory I can jump between devices. I think I'm going to like this.

Oh, and I also got Koreader to connect up to my Nextcloud account, so can access my books that way. I will not be stuck for reading material!
