@vonKordke pretty weird take, offering channels people can follow to learn about things you want to communicate to them and then making those channels known really does not meet the definition of "virtue signaling" by any stretch of logic for me...

@73ms @jwildeboer @EUCommission
there is nothing good about what they did. They are not so stupid to fully remove an X account with almost 2 milion followers.
They just removed one icon. Why? Why not all of the big tech platform icons? Because it's a virtue signaling - hey look, we don't like people with different opinions! Look how nice, diverse and inclusive we are!
And they didn't just remove them. They announced it like it was meaningful change. It's not. That's why it's just virtue signaling. They don't have balls to delete the account.
They project how "good" they are without doing the deed. Children's behavior.

@vonKordke Thanks. Your rant makes it easy for me to wish you a nice day and add you to my blocklist. @73ms @EUCommission

@jwildeboer @EUCommission I don't know if they're in the process of rolling that change out, or if different parts of the Commission are handling social media differently. The "Follow Us" section of their Publications Office home page still leads with X and doesn't mention Mastodon: https://op.europa.eu/en/web/general-publications/publications. But maybe that will change soon!

@JMarkOckerbloom That page is managed by the Publications Office. The site I linked to is managed by the DG Communication. I guess the changes will be rolled out separately. Maybe someone from @EUCommission can explain the details.

I also have to add that the Publications office is it's own service, and has their own socials, and they aren't on Mastodon (yet)
