@hannorein These are two cars linked/chained together. The city will make them 3 cars linked/chained together latter. The bollards are between the gap in cars.

@arthurgron Hm. I assume this is a safety feature. Is it so that people don't cross the tracks in-between the cars while the cars are standing still? That scenario seems a bit contrived.

@hannorein That's correct. It's odd in Toronto to have several cars linked together. On our main subway line, the subway is one long internal space. It seems a bit archaic to have to link up three cars.
