    We could just scrap TSA and go back to having airports & airlines be responsible for their own security. We wouldn’t have this chaos when there’s a government funding gap, and as a nice perk we’d ditch a lot of time-consuming theater that adds little meaningful security benefit.

      @normative.bsky.social Even if we maintained passenger inspection as a federal responsibility, I'd expect we'd get a better mission focus and better results if the TSA was rolled up under the DOT.

      Although I read at one point individual airports could opt-out of using TSA agents, and SFO was an airport that had done so. Not sure if that's no longer possible, but I'm positive at one point it was.
