@julian PWA's aren't allowed in the fediverse or the app store? This is news to me but that isn't surprising. I asked Claude options for getting to the app store and it recommended PWA.

@julian Also I didn't answer the question fully. I'm doing this in phases. I started with PWA as this is all still very early, and I am trying to prove people want to use the app. I don't have the full plan mapped out but know I would need to make changes for the Apple review if I go that route.

I think Play Store there's a way in, but Apple is famously against it.

In fact, your push notifications are probably using the web push API. Guess who single handedly held back adoption? Apple.

They only allowed it in 2023.

@julian Ahh, thanks Julian! That makes sense. That’s pretty much the same guidance I got from Claude and ChatGPT too. If I go for Apple at some point, I won’t be able to just wrap the site and call it a day. I’d need to build out more native functionality, and I’m not going to pretend I fully understand that path yet haha.
