    @APBBlue no. We spent the summer of 2015 in Seattle. It's a beautiful campus that's in the city but separate, it's a great school, and it's West Coast so closer to us if we make the move to Australia

              They Didn’t Want to Have C-Sections. A Judge Would Decide How They Gave Birth.
              ---

              Two Florida women had to attend virtual court hearings while in labor to argue for their right to choose their own medical care. As their state pushes to expand some types of medical freedom, it has also constricted the rights of pregnant women.

              @ProPublica I don't know why anyone who's not stupid or just an asshole lives in Florida anymore.

                @ProPublica cynical because "Florida," but I think it'd be fascinating to attempt to fight any medical charges for procedures done to you without your consent. Would hospitals be less inclined to do this if they knew they were going to be eating the cost?

                  @ProPublica I can see the C- section determinations increasing because birth is just taking too long, e.g., Dr. time and hospital bed availability. #blackmastodon

                    @venitamathias @ProPublica They tried to do that with me in NY, but luckily my doula was there to fight them. Apparently the doctor was tired of waiting 🤦🏽‍♀

                      @rejinl @ProPublica
                      So glad it turned out in your favor. Black women are already at high risk during childbirth compared to other women. C-sections shouldn't have to be normalized.
