Giant Dead Leaf Mantis (Deroplatys desiccata) is a species of praying mantis native to Southeast Asia. It perfectly mimics dead foliage to trap prey, featuring a wide, flat prothorax that looks like a crumpled leaf. When scared or startled by predators (or human hands), they exhibit a death-feigning behavior, lying completely motionless on the ground with their legs folded or stretched out. They have a single, slit-like ear located between their hind legs, which is used to detect high-pitched sounds.
