    In terms of alternatives to X, it's interesting to compare German and British universities. The former seems to prefer the Fediverse, while the latter prefers BlueSky.

    How are things going in this regard with universities and research institutes in other European countries?

          @everton137 @stereo @zolke.bsky.social

          According to the listings of @sabrinkmann we have nearly 60 #Mastodon accounts of #universities in Germany
          πŸ‘‰ https://mastodon-listen.playground.54gradsoftware.de/
          In addition, there are nearly 150 #research #institutes / organisations
          πŸ‘‰ https://mastodon-listen.playground.54gradsoftware.de/?liste=institute-DE
          Their followers sum up to exceed 200k and they are constantly growing.

          Recently, we realized that 4 #universities are also acitve on #PeerTube
          πŸ‘‰ https://bewegung.social/@neuSoM/116090482941383612
          It can thus be concluded, that Mastodon / the #Fediverse became a central pillar in #SciComm in #Germany.

            @neuSoM @everton137 @stereo @zolke.bsky.social @sabrinkmann I am not working for any university, but I fully support the initiative. Big Tech platforms (YouTube, Twitter, etc) are not optimal for the preservation and transmition of knowledge. The primary aim is maximizing their own short-term profit, not society's general welfare.

              @everton137 @zolke.bsky.social @neuSoM Bulgarian universities usually use Facebook (or the more forward-thinking ones - Instagram). Microblogging is just getting popular (in general) with Threads thanks primarily to Gen Z and Alpha. So we're a long way from thinking about privacy or foreign influence in social media.
