I swung by the post office to ask them if there was any chance it could've fallen on the floor or something, and the answer was 'nope, must've been lost at the plant'
so I said, ok, so what can I do about it?
'file a claim i guess'
ok, that's great but like, it's more about needing to send a passport back to get a new one than anything financial you know?
'yeah, i dunno what to tell ya.'
Awesome.

very strange that last night, the passport was scanned at the very same post office that claimed the thing 'must've been lost at the plant'
So lord knows what condition its in after being wherever it was there for a week, but at least it, or its remnants, are now moving.
