    This year I am not having much luck with drains. After the #Crapturday in the office, a kitchen drain got clogged. I decided to rush to the rescue with my drain snake. I dismantled and cleaned all the local pipes, then inserted the five-meter snake and, after some persistence, managed to get through. In other words, I was quite satisfied.

    After putting everything back together, I realized I had actually solved nothing. So I armed myself with two bottles of liquid drain cleaner and poured them down the drain. Then I prepared a small pot of boiling water to pour in afterward. As soon as I poured it, it started gurgling (as expected) and going down.

    Just as I was about to celebrate victory, some sort of explosion happened, spraying all the drain cleaner back at me. Needless to say, since I had not expected anything like that (and it was an unplanned operation), I was wearing a pair of trousers and a shirt I care about.

    The result: trousers and shirt permanently stained with drain cleaner, and the drain even more clogged than before.

    Now both the shirt and the trousers are in the washing machine with dye. They will become blue πŸ™‚

      @stefano Ouch, looks like this year wants to tell you something about a certain type of β€žhardware projectsβ€œ. πŸ˜†πŸ˜±
      I do hope you didn’t get drain cleaner in your face or on your skin. That stuff is nasty.

        @stefano I’m so sorry Stefano, ouf 😭😭😭

        Maybe Vinted is your best friend in this scenario? I often buy extra pairs of beloved clothes / shoes there (once they are worn out and if they’re out of stock in shops).

        You could even take a picture of your clothes (once they’re dry obviously) and do a visual search on Vinted

                @stefano What are all the drains doing? Any drainage at all, gurgling on all of them? Are there different effects and reactions, levels single multi ect, I ask for a reason, if all acting the same and multi level or even all acting the same same level, 1 the main cleanout plugged most likely, however very possible the vent could be plugged, when you turn on the kitchen sink does the water spit and sputter, if so although not always, most likely the vent is plugged, which means either go to the roof and run your snake down, or find the lowest and easiest to reach cleanout on the vent line, based on the build up and blow back knowing how volatile drain cleaner is, I am currently counting on your vent is plugged up, in any event stay safe and try not to toss any more volatile chemicals down the drain, they almost never actually work as intended, and normally cause bigger issues, also what happens when you plunge the toilet, water bubble up in tub or other sink or drain, so many possibilities, but total blockage and you ran snake that far, means its either vent or past the indoor flow most likely
