@babe i'm reading Sourcery right now, for the first time. Have a good reading !

@Chawarma also an excellent one!
-
@LordOfTheGeeks I love that the penguin copy of the audio book has the turtle as a brummie
@babe does it!? I always had a home counties voice with a whiny edge to it in mind!

'eyyy, I'm up to my favourite Discworld book. Small Gods. I've been looking forward to this one
@babe are you reading all the way through the books?

It's my third go through, but first time in a very long time.

@babe Nice! Just acquired the full set (US version) in epub, via Humble Bundle. (Some slight shenanigans required for those of us not in US)

@babe @middleclasstool I will need to that again soon. Too long away from the Truth these books hold.
I really like small gods. And Vimaire (sorry French name... Vimes) come back in time in Night Watch has a special place in my heart. The smell of lilacs, the mentor /student relationship, the young Vetinari...
And Going Postal. Because it's such a good depiction of our world, the Commons vs private parasites, manipulation of informations, golem ethics, the tech nerds that of course speak to me in a special fashion... And well, the hope, making things happen. And redemption.
Ok, but I can't forget the witches, because I was raised in mountain like theirs, full of old people with the will of Esme.
And the colors of magic in the discworld...Ok that's not even almost a choice.

@fanf42 @middleclasstool Vimes is definitely a character I have a lot of love for.
The witches are hitting different this time for me.
About 6 years ago I got back in proper contact with my nan and we got really close. I hadn't really known her well at all before that.
She was damn near spot on for Granny Weatherwax. -

@fanf42 It's very good, if a bit emotionally taxing. She passed away last year and it's reminding me of her a lot in positive ways.
She was a very forthright and caring woman in precisely the same way as Esme Weatherwax, it's uncanny

@babe oh, you've all my condolences.
And I think I understand perfectly what you mean.
For me, the echoes are that unbelievable capacity of seing what is Right. And still living her simple, oh so deeply grounded life. Loving her community, not because it's even remotely perfect, but because they are humans. -

He wrote incredible characters. It seems I'd forgotten a great deal of the stories beyond the broadest of terms, and especially details. It's definitely been nice to get back into it
