    Alberta’s #UCP government served notice in the legislature Thursday it intends to toss out the entire report of the 2025-26 Electoral Boundaries Commission.

    This is unprecedented as far as electoral boundary commissions go, but not a complete surprise, writes David J. Climenhaga. #abpoli

      @thetyee
      Fascism isn't coming to Alberta, it is already actively dismantling the democracy and propagating hate and lies. Canadians beware.

        "They are counting on most Alberta voters not to be paying any attention to what’s happening and, if they hear of it, to dismiss it as meaningless political inside baseball. This hope is probably justified. "

          @thetyee

          Have the federal call and run a provincial election in Alberta.

          Use the Notwithstanding clause.

            @thetyee I guess we're going to have to do what some of the American States did & take them to court to stop them from gerrymandering!

              @thetyee I believe that it is also a common practice worldwide. The goal often is to defeat the opposition.

                @kevinrns

                You're saying the feds should call a provincial election in Alberta, and use the Notwithstanding Clause to do it? What a great idea!! 👍

                I can see a certain someone give the word "Livid" a whole new meaning if that happened. 😆
