"i've now got an ai assistant running for me 24/7 and now i don't know how i'd do anything without it" omg omg you say that like it's a good thing that's going to end well for you

we need to figure out why everyone with ai psychosis becomes obsessed with spirals. it's really weird
does anyone else see the contradictions between the two ideas "your expertise is what is really valuable" and "i've outsourced so much to the ai i wouldn't know how to do it myself anymore"

@ana
Feels like more right wing projection. They of course never realize it, but they're spiraling out of control of their own lives. -

filling out the spot in my 'ai psychosis' bingo card marked 'referred to ai assistant as "she"'

techbros will really refer to an inanimate object as "she" before they'll respect the pronouns of an actual trans person

"i argued about this slide with my ai a lot, and this is our compromise"
@ana what. people are insane

@ana isn't it interesting how the techbro's AI assistant is always she/her?

@ariadne so weird, what could be going on here

-
oh you didn't make any of your slides yourself. you're proud of this too. not sure if it shows because i'm not paying attention to them now
@ana this is the bit I really don’t get
One wouldn’t go on stage and brag about how they had their human assistant make their slides
-
if it gave you superpowers i think it would be more obvious, but all you've done is relinquished control of your critical thinking to a giant corporation that only wants to extract rent from you
@ana Yes but what if I told you you'd never have to touch a YAML file again

@ana "if i sexually harass my AI assistant will HR be notified" and other queries made by techbros

@ana oh holy fuck does it not end there, either. it's positively maddening how they'll spend all their energies waffling about the eternal mystery of consciousness and sapience and emotions when it comes to their fucking SOFTWARE but actual people? real human beings? totally a solved problem in their heads, a triviality almost. I have said this before, but the whole charade reminds me sharply of how Christofascists idolize "dead babies" (i.e. aborted pregnancies) and lavish all their supposed respect for life and living creatures on that one particular abstract thing, while being cruel and murderous towards actual living human beings.

"i argued about this slide with my ai a lot, and this is our compromise"
@ana I’ve seen and heard a version of “i argued about this … with my ai” and I don’t understand how one can argue with a statistical model. That doesn’t sound very healthy.

@wbftw i don't think they even realize how this sounds to people

Yes, but I think it’s implied there are makers (the ones prompting) and others who rely on their expertise to do less important things, like making slop-code work.

i am convinced that something that's at play here is that our perception of time spent coding tends to be much greater than it actually is, while perception of time spent prompting the machine tends to be much less, leading to a perception of time saved that doesn't match reality
