@rysiek the thing is fedi is just not comparable to twitter, no wonder one loses when held to the standards of the other

you go to one social or the other for different reasons, I believe fedi excels at less but better connections and conversations, while twitter is the instant winner when it comes to keeping up to date with higher profile people (non-indie music artists and such) or generally what's hot on the internet at a given time

I am not considering twitter's ideological issues here cause they're a recent problem that's not intrinsic to the platform I feel

I think its George Takei's social media team rather than him directly, but one thing I've noticed since 2017 is whilst I was initially one of the oldest on my Fedi group, now there are *many* folk on Fedi easily old enough to be my parents (and I'm 54!) and a lot who aren't from tech backgrounds, which shows the network has become accessible and usable for older people..

@shellsharks @rysiek A lot of journalists and influencers assume that most people are like them. They project their own competencies, or lack of them to the wider public.
This is similar to a review who reviews a new computer and the first thing they do is encode 4k video.
They assume that everyone wants to do that.

Also they are often missing the point that open source projects are evolving around a community. The community dictates the direction a project will evolve and not some kind of corporate agenda.

In any case the majority of journalists have decided to ignore mastodon and fediverse in general and quite a few of them did what they could to manipulate their audience away from fediverse.

I honestly thought AI wrote it and hallucinated the whole time. Something trained on rage bait from middle schoolers. Wasn't a coherent argument in it anywhere.

Even if mastodon had face planted, this article wouldn't be relevant to anyone but the guy who wrote it...and maybe Shatner because it's got him in it.
