    In 2024, France counted 13,335 millionaires who paid ZERO income tax.

    This is yet another example of why we need a UN Tax Convention to fix global tax rules and finally make the super-rich pay their fair share, so there is real money for public services, climate action, and a green transition, instead of more loopholes for extreme wealth.

    @greenpeace

    Should be posted very much more often in the open field e.g. in areas where ballots are to take place.

                @parpinet @greenpeace you mean as "I live in a house that is said is mine but I actually own the debt of it, which makes the bank the real owner" ?
                Or "I'm a millionaire until you see my credit/debt balance, which would put me into bankruptcy in many countries" ?

                    @greenpeace

                    A millionaire is someone who possesses a million or more in assets. It does not follow that the person has an income (anymore), and if not, it makes sense they don't have to pay income tax.

                    The question should be if they avoid paying taxes that they should be reasonably be obliged to pay.

                      @greenpeace Wealth taxes are the way to go.
                      Wealth, being accumulated income, is not taxed with VAT, nor any other significant way.

                      Personal income should not be taxed directly. The consumed part gets VATed, the accumulated part should be taxed as wealth.

                      Corporate wealth should be also taxed, using different scale, plus all payouts, except salaries.

                        @cjd @greenpeace or the rent they get is stored in holdings and they declare no income even though they do have some
