In retrospect, I didn't think it was so bad. You had to think about the problem much more carefully before writing code.

@marekfort I remember when piracy was how young people got their first code editors.

We've worked hard to end that barrier to new coders. Shame to see this sort of thing. Coding is for everyone.

@marekfort context should be added here. The TOS explicitly states “you must be 18 or older to use Zed’s AI-enabled features software as a service offering” I assume that means the ask for your age when you add tokens and use AI.

I’ve never used their AI features and I don’t plan on starting to anytime. Glad to know we have alternatives in the Zed space.

Probably so they can say this without lying through their teeth. They collect all kinds of info, only some of which is actually made public because their page which says the telemetry data they take is down.

@marekfort Oh wow. I like #Zed and use it every day, however now perhaps I should send a support ticket telling them I'm under 18 and asking them what they're going to do about it. Just for laughs since I haven't been under 18 for approximately 40 years...
