I was out on my street corner again after work today, waving my sign at passers-by. Lots of positive responses. Four people in a car slowed down, opened windows, cheered, and applauded. A young pedestrian woman with pink hair smiled and said, "I love it! Keep doing this!" Lots of people in cars honking, waving, giving thumbs-up. One woman pulled her car into the empty parking lot beside me, rolled down her window, and chatted. She is new to the area, and wondered if there are any groups she can get involved with here. She said, "I just wanted to say what a boost it gives me to see you out here. Keep it up!"
Thinking it over, I have just realized that it has been many weeks since I've had any negative reactions at all. Reactions are either neutral (just driving by) or positive (like all these today). And the amount of positivity has been increasing for weeks now. It's a tiny bit of anecdotal evidence, but I can't help thinking it's an encouraging snapshot of community feeling.
