@hpod16 Yep, that's how we know who the most blocked accounts are.
More details:
Why are blocks on Bluesky public? | Bluesky
The technical implementation of public blocks and some possibilities for more privacy preserving block implementations — an area of active research and experimentation.
(docs.bsky.app)
@stefan @hpod16 @postpunkmusic @MissWarcraft That is for me reason enough to not touch that network. I guess nearly no one using Bluesky is aware of this. And the consequences of it appear only, when it’s to late. There are things to be public and blocklists are not.

That's for real, no joke? 🤯 -
@realcaseyrollins @lucien,
Well, in my view, DMs would land in an inbox, and create a continuous back and forth between two people.
If I stopped answered to your DMs, you would notice next time you opened your inbox.
Private mentions happen in threads under posts. When I stop answering there, you probably wouldn't notice.
I phrase it like this, because as a girl on the internet... I CAN get creeps in my DMs. So maybe I like that things are a bit more... decentralised here. Makes sense? -

@imbl @stefan @hpod16 They cracked down on Celebrating the execution of Charlie Kirk. They cracked down on the Rabid Antisemitism. They are trying to stop the spread of Hate by some groups. I personally am not Trans or gay or any LGBTQ I was on Bluesky the first few months when you needed an invite. Then the LGBTQW Came, I didn't care. But the Antisemitism I care,

@MissWarcraft self-reported numbers, they choose what they define as "active users". Also, those users are not equally distributed across the world. For example, in Austria the Twitter usage even in its heyday was tiny. This statistic I attached is from 2023, you can see pretty well how irrelevant Twitter/X always was.

@nitrml Facts are facts. Numbers don't lie

@hpod16 @leavex Late 2024 I attempted to show Fediverse to a guy who is (or was?) maintaining a page. "Baitman, clickbait justice warrior" - I translated the Italian name. Well, this guy was complaining of the algorithm always putting that page in danger as he was inviting to fight clickbait and disinformation.
I suggested him to have another service in addition to Facebook and Twitter. The Fediverse. Well, his readers treated me as a spammer.
So I said, I'm not Jesus. I'm not the preacher who goes to sinners to give them an alternative. Let them go to hell and swim in the mud, if they want to. -

@hpod16 Well done, @EUCommission - now please tell all your press officers to post here. Many just have “X” on their profile pages.

@hpod16 At the same time it's interesting, that they sell the Fediverse as a “European“ thing. While certainly quite a lot of developers are from Europe, that has never been the point, right?

@hpod16 This comment is funny from a "If I'd asked people what they wanted they'd have said, 'a better horse'" -Henry Ford type of comment. The fediverse is better not because it is an "EU Facebook" it's better because it's fundamentally different in a way that is hard for people to grasp at first.
Because the solution to oligarchy is not "better oligarchs".

@hpod16 >EU citizen-only alternative to Facebook
Don't tell em that the fediverse is a completely open interconnected network of social media sites.. -

@hpod16 Every time I invite someone here from Facebook or Discord or another problematic platform they have 57 different reasons why they can't.
Hon, my tech skills stopped developing roundabout Mac System 9, before it was even called "OS" or had all the cutesy codenames. If I can have worthwhile social media interactions on here, so can they.
