    @MeimeiTakuto @verge Show her that you can separate the work from its author.

    By pirating it and giving her no money at all...

      @verge Don’t throw the baby out with the bath water. Harry Potter is a delight and kids can enjoy every minute of them.
      JK has views most progressive thinkers don’t agree with but then Charles Dickens abhorred poverty but seemed fine with slavery. Each of us has choices to make. She has to live with herself. We can live without.

      @ddetmer @verge I disagree with it being a great kids book series primarily because of the pacing of the books. You just can't say that the ideal age to enjoy books 1 and 7 are the same. As such, if you start with book 1, expect them to read book 7 a month later. Which requires artificially delaying the first book until the kids likely have grown out of it, or being _extremely_ patient in dealing with "when can I finally have the next book?"...

      This issue did not exist with the original releases, as they were also released with release dates matching the expected reading age progression.

      I also heard (have not confirmed yet, but will) that most of the themes in her book were, to put it mildly, greatly influenced by other works, which in turn implies, whoever likes HP may also like quite some of those. Now I do not know the political views of those authors either, but there definitely are other works available which may or may not be better.

        @shadowbottle @verge @gedeonm Given the mere fact they're turning it into a series shows it is all about just milking the same cash cow even more - looks like it already starts meeting expectations...

          @verge

          You'd think she could afford to make-up a whole different story to tell.
          Or maybe it's a way to retro-cram more JK bad-ideas into work that she now wants to use to directly manipulate malleable minds in-service to the greater fascist and hate machines.

          Shit, man. I still don't want Star Wars prequels or Road House remake. Not from a quality or nostalgia angle either. Just tell new stories is all. Retro retellings are the laziest kind of work from assholes who can afford to give-up.

          @GGMcBG @verge YES. While at it, can we also tell the same to Disney?

            @xinit @johnlogic @verge To be fair, I wouldn't even pirate _anything_ that came out in the last 10 to 20 years on TV or cinema... it all went down.

              @verge And let's not try voting it into the Bottom 100 TV Series at https://www.imdb.com/de/search/title/?title_type=tv_series&user_rating=1,3.2&num_votes=1000,&sort=user_rating,asc - she doesn't even deserve that honour.

                  Sure, but I'd say that's a matter of taste more than ethics.

                    @divVerent @verge Absolutely!! She mimics or out right copied Tolkien and so many others. She was very “ influenced “ by great writers and I hope children /adults go on to read those and if they too see the similarities well… read on because a good book only last until the last page. I hope the love of reading starts somewhere. And they don’t rely on movies to get their attention. I absolutely love Sir Terry Pratchett. My absolutely favorite. ❤️
