This coming Saturday is the third #NoKings event. There's some bellyaching about this pattern of "The biggest protest in history" followed by "No substantial change happening". And yeah, I feel ya. Nothing happens unless someone does something. And just voting doesn't count. It feels like a useless gesture and increasingly risky in the face of active fascism.
The knock on effects of these though, the stuff you don't see after everyone packs up and goes home, is the forging of connections and alliances between people and groups that would otherwise be isolated from each other. Knowing you're not alone, that you can rely on each other, that's something.
Build something better under the surface of the failed system. When things collapse, whether by self-destruction or the increasingly inevitable outside factors, be ready to rise in its place.

@action_jay yep. It's good for networking, it's good for morale, and it shows that numbers are on our side. I can spare a couple Saturdays in between the other organizing work
