Hi #fediverse. We need to talk about something.

While browsing the Fediverse today it appears most people here have never tried to pick up a duck or swan. Like, not even once during their childhood.

Some people say they've not even touched a living chicken!

My hypothesis is that people here get upset about whatever hypothesis I present so I'll shutup on this.

Have you try pick up a duck or swan?

Please boost for scientific accuracy (or don't, it's your choice, that #science for you!)

@Pepijn ducks, chickens, and geese. Still have faint scars on my forearms from their unintentional scratches.

@Pepijn real men have tried to pick up a pelican. They also now have an eye patch.

@Pepijn I see them all the time I live near a park. They’re lovely. But I have no desire to pick them up.

Instructions for duck. For swans step two should be adapted.

No duck or swan, but I've met a pet chicken. She was a sweetie and I did pick her up.

I had an opportunity to pick up a goose once, but I chose life.

@Pepijn not a swan, of course, since I am not suicidal. But plenty of ducks and chickens.

I think of swans as pretty geese, and geese delight in fucking you up if they can.

Furthermore, not just tried, but actually did.
                  Picked up geese too.

@Pepijn at least for the mute swan which is the most common in Switzerland, I was always told to leave these guys alone, and if one is stuck on a road or something, to call the police. These things can be mean.

@Pepijn Step 1 to pick up a swan in the UK is to ask the King for permission.
